Alison Zhou is currently a third year student at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She grew up in Toronto and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo. If you ask anyone at MCPHS, they would say Alison truly deserves to be CAOS Student Doctor of the Month because of her caring personality, outstanding academics, and extensive involvement in the profession of optometry.
Alison is passionate and devotes a significant amount of time towards volunteering and helping the community. Alison is actively involved in campus organizations and is currently President of both the Private Practice Club and CAOS at MCPHS. She continually participates in vision screenings, community health events, and gives tours to prospective students. She helps with orientation and is always making the incoming students’ transition at ease. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists and is also recognized for her academic excellence in the esteemed BSK International Optometry Honor Society.
Her passion for optometry began before attending MCPHS as she went on a missions trip to provide medical and optometric care to the people of Honduras. Her prior extra curricular activities have contributed to her passion in the field of optometry. Most notably, Alison is praised for her work as a peer mentor. She has dedicated her time to educate, guide, and teach fellow classmates. She has a positive attitude and is always willing to go the extra step to help her classmates.
Alison is one of the most genuine and caring people you will meet. Her kindness and patience toward others are just a few qualities that will make her a great optometrist in the future. She enjoys attending conferences and loves meeting new people. Alison has an interest towards the vision therapy and pediatrics specialty. She looks forward to returning back to Canada to practice and be with her family and friends!
