January 2018: Brittany Hoyle

Brittany Hoyle is a third-year student at the Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. She is known for her friendly and charismatic personality here at AZCOPT. She served as the president of the AZCOPT Canadian Club last year and was vital in getting the chapter connected with the CAOS organization. She also organized events such as the Canadian Thanksgiving dinner.

She has been very active in many other organizations at MWU as well, holding leadership positions in CAOS, her class council, and the Student Government Association acting as the activities coordinator. She has also been an active member in many other organizations, such as the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), American Optometric Student Association (AOSA), the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA), Beta Sigma Kappa, the Contact Lens Club, the Sports Vision Club, and SVOSH, a humanitarian organization that organizes international mission trips to provide optometric care. Even with all of these commitments, she has been conducting a research study over the past year at the Eye Institute on campus.

Brittany grew up in Hinton, AB, and attended the University of Alberta for her undergraduate degree before moving to Arizona. She became fascinated with optometry and vision science after seeing some congenital ocular conditions in a loved one. After graduation, she plans to return to Canada, and would like to have the chance of experiencing life in new areas of the Great White North. She loves to travel; One of her favorite experiences was travelling to Japan. She also loves the outdoors, and hikes the many trails around Glendale when she can. She has two husky puppies that she loves dearly called Apollo and Zeus.

Brittany is a hard-working, friendly, and generous person. She is always willing to lend a helping hand, and we are honored to recognize her as the CAOS Student Doctor of the Month.
