In 1986, Dr. Francis Jean opened his first optometry practice in his hometown of Baie-Comeau, Quebec, with a focus on offering quality eyecare, services and products. He later founded the buying group Visual Group, inviting optometrists who shared his values to join him, leading to the creation of IRIS in 1990. Today, with over 150 stores across Canada, IRIS continues to encompass passion, honesty and respect among its peers and, of course, our beloved patients.
At the forefront of the latest technological advancements in eye care, IRIS prides itself on thinking ahead and staying mindful of our changing environment. We are continually looking for new ways to introduce and immerse Canadians in the IRIS experience by improving tools and processes for our eye care professionals. Through our proprietary iPad-based software, iProfile, we can capture our patients' needs and ensure that we propose the best, individualized vision care options. Most recently, IRIS has been developing tools to better serve our patients like Electronic Medical Records and Remote Optometry.
IRIS believes that its dedicated staff is the reason for its continuous success. Programs are put in place to enable each individual to grow professionally. Through our online campus, special training and professional development tools and courses are given to ensure all employees are up to date in their knowledge of products, tools, and strategies. The content and subject matter of these programs are created in collaboration with co-owners in the industry and world-class experts. Throughout the year, we organize multiple regional training events inviting all employees to learn together.
